The Julia Rausing Trust’s funding interests are broad, with an emphasis on work in the areas of welfare, education, and health. We are particularly interested in charities supporting people who may be facing disadvantage in all its various forms. In recent years this has meant supporting charities working with elderly people, people with disabilities, care-experienced young people and those with mental health challenges. Work addressing the impact of low-income and poverty, such as provision of food or combating homelessness, has often been prioritised.
We prefer to co-fund and so may not consider funding the full amount required. Grants are typically up to £25,000 per year (and usually range from one to three years), although on occasion larger grants may be considered. Funding may be awarded for project work or core costs.
Where we are interested in following up an Expression of Interest submitted through the South Cheshire Funders, we will typically ask charities to complete a short online application form and provide some financial information such as project budget and current/future years income forecast. We may arrange an online meeting or telephone call to discuss this in more detail. If we have not funded your charity in recent years, we may require details of an independent person who can provide a reference for your charity.
We aim to provide funding decisions on full proposals submitted to us within 4 weeks of receipt. In the case of larger grant amounts, the timeframe will be longer (typically up to 8 weeks).
We generally only consider funding registered charities.
